We don't have to fill in all the gaps
Ma: The Japanese Art of Leaving Gaps

We don't have to fill in all the gaps.
Even a micro gap in the day, and we'll probably feel an urge to pull out the phone. Or get in the car and call a friend, or put on a podcast.
Perhaps it's because we feel like we need to maximise efficiency, or always be doing something.
Yep. And there's nothing wrong with that. It's just we can miss something around us that deserves our attention, or a little thought that is waiting to be listened to.
Sitting quietly and just letting thoughts come and go can help. That's why, when in the shower, or falling asleep, other thoughts can appear — they've been given space to arise.
Space to arise.
Space to land.
Space to breathe.
Space to orient.
Space space space.
This week in class we're exploring ma — the space between things.
Big love, Em x
