Can you walk without waking the palace? 🍃

Shinobiashi: The Japanese Art of Walking Without a Sound

Watercolour foot stepping softly with the Japanese word shinobiashi

In ancient Japanese palaces, they had security floors called uguisu-bari - designed to chirp like birds when anyone walked on them.

Even the most skilled ninjas couldn't cross them silently. But they tried. They practiced shinobiashi - the art of ninja walking - moving with such care, such mindfulness, such extraordinary lightness.

What would it feel like to take softer steps this week? To delicately tread through the day, our worries, our attitude, with a little less rush... What if tender, light, and graceful was actually the way forward?

Which part of your life could you tread more softly in?

Big love, Em x
