Comparison is the thief of joy 😒
Mudita: Comparison, Envy and Sympathetic Joy

You know that feeling when a friend tells you their good news and your stomach drops before you can even smile?
They got a big promotion. Bought a beautiful new home. Are going on some fabulous holiday. And before you can feel happy for them, there's this split second where you think: aw, I want that too 😒.
It's natural. It has happened to all of us. But nobody actually wants to feel jealous or resentful or bitter, do they?
The alternative is sympathetic joy—the capacity to be genuinely happy for someone else's success. Not faking it with a big smile. Actually feeling it.
When your friend shows you their new place, and you're just happy imagining their life there. When someone books a trip and you're immediately excited for them.
This week, we're exploring mudita — sympathetic joy. When we stop comparing, their joy suddenly doesn't steal yours.
Big love, Em x
