Love cocooned
Love Cocooned: Slowing Down to Open Up

Did you cocoon over the long weekend?
Cocooning is a time for regrouping and opening again, like the caterpillar that cocoons into a liquefied moosh to burst into a beautiful butterfly.
I realised I’d built armour around my heart a while ago. It felt like a dense cocoon around my chest. Do you ever feel like you have built up barriers and are just not as open as you once were?
A short practice to gradually “unarmour” your heart:
Find a quiet moment, often.
Acknowledge these feelings in the body. Where are they? What do they feel like?
Send some love right there. See if you can slowly soften and release.
These barriers have been built up over the years, so they don’t dissolve immediately. Do this often. Chip away at the armour that you thought was there to protect you.
Sketch by Emily Cook (moi) I’m playing around with a triptych of an armoured cocoon heart that transforms into soaring butterflies.
